Carbon cycle

Plants perform photosynthesis by removing carbon from CO2 of the environment for formatting organic matter.

The latter is oxidized by the cellular respiration process, which results in the release of CO2 into the environment. THE decomposition and burning of fossil fuelss (coal and oil) also releases CO2 in the environment.

In addition, the increase in CO content2 atmospheric causes aggravation of "greenhouse effect"which may lead to the thawing of glaciers and polar ice caps with consequent rise in sea level and flooding of coastal cities.
